2001 Gaja Sori San Lorenzo Langhe DOC

Wine Spectator 96 pts. Wine Advocate 95 pts. Vinous 97 pts (Antonio Galloni).

Galloni: "The 2001 Sori San Lorenzo is the richest and deepest of these 2001s. It remains cool, inward and totally implosive. Dark fruit, leather, goudron and licorice are some of the notes that begin to emerge over time. The 2001 is dazzling, but it is also very much on the muscular side and needs time to soften. I imagine it will drink beautifully for another 20 years."

Sori San Lorenzo is the most austere and structured of Gaja's three Barbaresco single-vineyard wines. South-southwest facing, overlooking the Tanaro River near the historic town of Barbaresco, the vineyard was acquired from the church in 1964. 100% Nebbiolo. Anticipated maturity through 2031.
