The Gelso Nero, referred to as the "Organic Baby Caymus," has an intense ruby color with violet reflections. The 2006 Melville Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills is a highly-rated wine known for its complexity, rich fruit flavors, and elegant profile. While the vintage is a bit older, reviews suggest it was a successful year for the region, showing smooth tannins and fresh fruit. Winemaker Dennis Martin focuses on Blocks N, G and Q from Bien Nacido Vineyard that are planted primarily to the Pommard clone. Aged 15 months in primarily Francois Frèrés oak barrels, 60% new and 40% once-used. · The exotic nose includes cooked cherries, burnt toffee and spice. The flavors remind me of an arugula salad with strawberries and cherries (there is a subtle note of pepper in arugula which is also typical of Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido Vineyard). 100 points Jeb Dunnuck: Just pure gold, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard CCS is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from one of California's greatest terroirs, that was brought up in 100% new French oak. This dense purple-colored effort has a magical bouquet of pure crème de cassis, smoke tobacco, white flowers, crushed stone, truffle, and hints of chocolate. Possessing full-bodied richness, this beauty builds incrementally on the palate, showing lots of ripe, polished tannins, no hard edges, and a rare mix of power, structure, and elegance that's something to behold. Napa Cabernet Sauvignon, or red wine for that matter, just doesn't get any better. Hats off to winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown for yet another majestic, singular wine that’s as good as it gets.   97 points Wine Advocate: Schrader’s CCS comes from Beckstoffer’s To Kalon vineyard in Oakville, produced from clone 4 grown on the C1 block. Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon CCS Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard rolls effortlessly out of the glass with profound notions of baked plums, boysenberries, blackberry pie and cassis, leading to hints of mocha, tapenade and black truffles. Full-bodied, concentrated and with a rock-solid backbone of grainy tannins, it delivers muscular black fruit and savory flavors, leading to a long, earthy finish. 97 points Wine Spectator:  Vivid, with lush cassis, plum and boysenberry compote flavors rolling through, carried by substantial structure that pulls in warm earth, sweet tobacco, licorice root and sweet bay leaf notes. Toasted notes, nuts and vanilla, as well as blackberries. The palate is well balanced and velvety with subtle power. Full and flavorful. Finishes a tiny bit short, but should open with time.

Limited Library Release. 92% Zinfandel8% Mixed Black Varieties (Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Petit Bouschet).        Saitone Ranch is the oldest of the Piner-Olivet vineyards, planted c. 1895 on the east side of the Laguna de Santa Rosa flood plain. In this vintage, we decided to pick these teinturiers along with the Zinfandel for cofermentation.  Bottled unfined and unfiltered.  A very exciting new vineyard designate. Tasting Notes: Deep ruby-purple.  Bordering on opaque.  An intoxicating nose of black raspberry and licorice allsorts is complemented by notes of blood orange and violet.  On the palate, an explosion of black raspberry fruit. Suave and harmonious tannins build through the long, spice-laden finish.  Like so many of our 2011s, there is great purity, freshness, and precision in this wine.  Optimum drinking for this beauty should be from late 2014 through the end of 2023.

The Coach Insignia Cabernet represents the pinnacle of our winemaking craft, comprised of the finest selected lots of Bordeaux varietals from our Napa Valley Estate RP(92p): The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Coach Insignia is a gorgeous, refined wine laced with expressive red fruit, flowers, mint and licorice. The elegant, feminine side of Cabernet comes through, along with a hint of mocha and spice from the presence of 8% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Hints of sweet herbs and licorice reappear on the finish. Today the 2008 looks to be a fairly early-maturing wine, but I don’t think that will be much of an issue based on how delicious it is.
