Full-bodied, the palate delivers impactful, mouth-coating black fruits with a firm structure of grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long with some mineral sparks coming through. (JL -2002).  The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for Provenance Vineyards come from the renowned Rutherford sub-appellation of Napa Valley, California. These grapes are grown by respected grower Andy Beckstoffer in classic Rutherford soil, which has excellent drainage and protection from the drying wind. Like the great Bordeaux wines that first inspired Donn Chappellet, this wine is crafted by blending Cabernet Sauvignon with other classic Bordeaux varietals. The wine was aged for 22 months in 100 percent new French oak. Grown on our rocky, mountainside vineyard, our Cabernets have consistently displayed an ability to age for several decades. Tasting notes : Embodying the essence of great mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon and the majestic terroir or Pritchard Hill, this wine is gloriously opulent and elegant, immediately demanding attention with aromas of violet, black currant, cassis, ripe blackberry, graphite and sweet smoke. As it opens up, fascinating layers of sandalwood and cardamom emerge, as well as hints of vanilla bean, nutmeg, dark chocolate and anise. On the impeccably balanced palate, complex flavors of ripe dark berries and spice dominate, framed by silky, polished tannins that carry the flavors to a long, epic finish.

  Bold, rich and luscious with aromas of black cherry, spice and currant, followed by full-bodied, complex flavors of blackberry, chocolate and smoky oak that come together in a muscular yet elegant finish. Limited Library Release. 92% Zinfandel8% Mixed Black Varieties (Alicante Bouschet, Grand Noir, Petit Bouschet).        Saitone Ranch is the oldest of the Piner-Olivet vineyards, planted c. 1895 on the east side of the Laguna de Santa Rosa flood plain. In this vintage, we decided to pick these teinturiers along with the Zinfandel for cofermentation.  Bottled unfined and unfiltered.  A very exciting new vineyard designate. Tasting Notes: Deep ruby-purple.  Bordering on opaque.  An intoxicating nose of black raspberry and licorice allsorts is complemented by notes of blood orange and violet.  On the palate, an explosion of black raspberry fruit. Suave and harmonious tannins build through the long, spice-laden finish.  Like so many of our 2011s, there is great purity, freshness, and precision in this wine.  Optimum drinking for this beauty should be from late 2014 through the end of 2023.

The Coach Insignia Cabernet represents the pinnacle of our winemaking craft, comprised of the finest selected lots of Bordeaux varietals from our Napa Valley Estate RP(92p): The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon Coach Insignia is a gorgeous, refined wine laced with expressive red fruit, flowers, mint and licorice. The elegant, feminine side of Cabernet comes through, along with a hint of mocha and spice from the presence of 8% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Hints of sweet herbs and licorice reappear on the finish. Today the 2008 looks to be a fairly early-maturing wine, but I don’t think that will be much of an issue based on how delicious it is.
