Champagne Yves Loison

Grower Champagne from a family that has worked these vines since the late 19th century. Alfred Senlis, then his son Raymond, then his daughter Jeanne and her husband Henri Loison-Senlis. Yves Loison was the fourth generation of winegrowers. His son Clovis runs the house today.

The vineyard spans three villages. Prouilly and Vandeuil sit in the Saint-Thierry massif north of Reims, where good exposure and well-drained soils give elegant, refined wines led by Meunier and its exemplary fruitiness. Ludes, classified Premier Cru in the Montagne de Reims, adds fuller body and a distinctive freshness. The vines are rooted in calcareous and clay-sandy soils, and some parcels are over 70 years old.

Each grape does a job here. Meunier brings roundness and fruit. Pinot Noir brings body and power with pronounced red-fruit aromas. Chardonnay brings floral, citrus and mineral notes, and the capacity to age.

The family has practiced sustainable viticulture since 1984, and has been certified Viticulture Durable en Champagne (VDC) and Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) since 2020. The work is done in the soil rather than with sprays, with a stated goal of zero herbicides.
