Morellino di Scansano DOCG (Tuscan Red)

Southern Tuscany’s highest DOCG appellation, often considered the little brother of Brunello. This is a Sangiovese-driven red from the coastal hills around Scansano, blended with small amounts of Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah for added depth and polish.

Dark red fruits lead the nose, followed by wild strawberry, spice, and subtle violet notes. Fresh and crisp on the palate, yet silky and harmonious, with a long, clean finish. Aged up to 18 months in barrique.

Produced from volcanic soils that give the wine structure and intensity without heaviness. A style that consistently appeals to Brunello drinkers and Napa Cabernet fans alike.

The name Morellino is a diminutive of morello, meaning “little dark one,” sharing the same historic roots as Brunello, one of Sangiovese’s many traditional names. Scansano’s winemaking history dates back to Etruscan times, with quality documented for centuries.
