This vintage from the late 20th century impresses with its elegant balance and depth, which only long ageing can achieve. Upon tasting, the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut 1988 reveals subtle nuances of dried fruit, brioche, and a hint of nuts. Its creamy body blends harmoniously with a vibrant freshness and a lingering, elegant perlage. This masterpiece pairs perfectly with seafood, fried fish, or tender veal to perfectly round off the tasting experience. Treat yourself to this exquisite champagne and enjoy an unforgettable moment full of refinement and luxury." One of the most recognisable Champagnes in the world, the success of Veuve (meaning “widow” in French) Clicquot can be attributed to the woman who turned around a business on the brink of collapse into the behemoth it is today. Born Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, she was married to Francois Clicquot in 1798 in an attempt by both families to consolidate their respective business interests. The modern day Maison of Veuve Clicquot possesses one of the finest champagne vineyards, both in terms of its size and the quality of its vines. Its 390 hectares are divided between 12 of the 17 Grands Crus, and between 20 of the 44 Premiers Crus that constitute the entire Champagne region. This exceptional heritage was built up over the centuries, founded upon the parcels first established by the founder, and added to by subsequent vineyard directors. In particular, Veuve Clicquot bears the fortuitous territorial mark of Madame Clicquot."
