FREE SHIPPING. The Cade Wines Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2013 is a red wine from Howell Mountain AVA in Napa Valley. This wine is fantastic with aromas of clove, cranberry, raspberry, coffee, cinnamon, black pepper, and coco nibs. Gloriously pure notes of boysenberry, graphite, blackberry, coffee, and dark chocolate soar from the glass and cascade over the palate. The wine is full-bodied, with an opulent, velvety texture, pure, rich with firm tannins and bold structure that is classic Howell Mountain. Blend: 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Malbec, 4% Merlot, 3% PetitVerdot. Given the opportunity to build the winery from the ground up, Newsom, Getty, and Conover were committed to constructing a state-of-the-art winery that would pay tribute to the land, both aesthetically and ecologically. This commitment would go above and beyond the standard benchmark of environmental responsibility, especially in the world of wine. The end goal, to construct the first CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) organically farmed, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certified Estate Winery in the Napa Valley. The two-fold commitment initiated in the vineyards with a painstaking program of natural cultivation to convert the vineyards to organic farming practices. “Change is good, green is good, organic is good,” says CADE partner John Conover about the estate’s environmentally proactive approach to winemaking. “We’re doing it because it’s the right thing to do as stewards of the land.”Today, Winemaker Danielle Cyrot continues to craft high elevation cabernet sauvignon that articulates the intense, powerful character of our estate while maintaining a balance of mountain fruit, firm acidity and judicious oak for layered, complex wines that reflect approachability and age ability – this nuanced, artisanal expression that Cade refers to as Modern Howell Mountain.

This has a very different bouquet to the 1996: lighter and minty, more red fruit than black fruit profile, raspberry, bergamot, a touch of leather coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, almost filigree tannins, harmonious, light and more Bordeaux like than other vintages with a little dryness coming through on the ferrous, honey-textured finish. Cabernet Sauvignon 73%, Carmenere 24%, Cabernet Franc 3%. Dark crimson. Intense nose and a return of some Bordeaux dry character. Sweet start that is then reined in by savoury tannins and a very convincing structure. Still extremely young but the alcohol is well contained. This should drink well over a long period.Saturated ruby. Explosive, powerful aromas of creme de cassis, blackberry, cherry preserves and smoked meat, complicated further by notes of licorice, an almost iron-like peaty quality and espresso. Broad, dense and lush, the dark fruit qualities repeating with great authority on the palate and showing impressive sweetness but also focus and persistence. This has the length and complexity of a high-end Bordeaux, and a concentration and sweetness that bode well for long-term development. Finishes with thick, harmonious tannins and a lingering note of blackcurrant. As good a wine as I've tasted from Chile to date. Almaviva is a joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild (Chateau Mouton-Rothschild) and Concha y Toro. This wine trades on the Bordeaux market.

The elegant, feminine side of Cabernet comes through, along with a hint of mocha and spice from the presence of 8% Cabernet Franc in the blend. Hints of sweet herbs and licorice reappear on the finish. Today the 2008 looks to be a fairly early-maturing wine, but I don’t think that will be much of an issue based on how delicious it is.

It offers up aromas of balsam wood, cinnamon, sage, incense, black cherry, and black currant. This is followed by supple, ripe wine with fine-grained tannins, savory flavors, and excellent balance. "Chalk Hill's 2009 Estate Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 49%,, Malbec 21%,  Merlot 17%  with dollops of Petit Verdot 8% and Syrah 4%. Firm tannins support plums, dark cherries, mocha, spices and licorice in this full-bodied, intense wine. I get the sense that with a lighter hand this might have been a materially more complex wine, which is to say more in line with the rest of the estate's wines.  Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. RP"

It opens with a fragrant dried cranberry and spicy blackberry bouquet. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, smooth, and really coats your mouth. The flavor profile is a mild black currant with spicy blackberry and blueberry mixed in. There were notes of mild oak noted on the back palate as well.
