A historic Tuscan red from Tenuta di Capezzana, one of Carmignano’s most important estates and longtime supplier to the Medici family.
Barco Reale is made from the traditional Carmignano blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Canaiolo, grown on the ancient Medici hunting reserve known as Barco Reale, established in 1626. Carmignano was using Cabernet centuries before “Super Tuscans” existed.
The 2005 vintage is fully mature and beautifully resolved. Deep ruby in color with aromas of dried red fruit, dark cherry, cedar, gentle oak, and savory Tuscan earth. On the palate it is soft, layered, and balanced, with polished tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, elegant finish.
This is old-school Tuscany, not modern, extracted, or flashy. Built for the table and drinking perfectly now.
