Why it’s special
Arzio is the flagship red from Baron di Pauli’s Arzenhof estate in Caldaro, Alto Adige (northern Italy near the Alps). It is a Bordeaux-style blend grown on mineral-rich slopes above Lake Caldaro. The 2011 shows over a decade of quiet development with dark cherry, graphite, cedar, and cocoa in balanced form.

Taste and texture
Dark ruby color. Ripe black and red fruit, violet, sweet spice, and a touch of cocoa. Fine-grained tannins and a cool mineral finish give length and composure.

  • Three-week maceration on skins

  • 18 months in small oak barrels, 70% new

  • Bottled May 2013 after light filtration

Baron Di Pauli

Respect for traditions and three centuries of history, a wealth of knowledge and experience, and a focus on top quality – all that has consistently determined our wine philosophy. From the very beginning, right up to today our wines tell the story of a passion for outstanding wines that led to the title of Purveyors to the Court being conferred on the Baron Di Pauli estate in the Austro-Hungarian Empire and established its international reputation at the court of the Russian Tsar in St. Petersburg. Our customers may no longer be emperors and tsars, but our wines are still not for everyone or everyday.
