Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2011, Corte San Benedetto

Very rare wine, very limited stock. After hand harvesting in mid September and careful selection, only the best grapes are placed in small wooden crates to dry for 3 months. The grapes are then softly pressed by natural gravity and left to ferment slowly. Aged partly in large Slavonian oak barrels and partly in small barrels for 5 years. Stored well, this Amarone can hold its character for another 20-25 years.

Intense garnet-red color. Fruity with black cherries and prunes, a bouquet of dried flowers and a hint of sweet spice. Well structured and mellow, contrasted by velvety, rich tannins.

Food pairing: traditionally served with game, grilled and braised meat, and well-matured cheese. Use a vintage wine opener and decant after opening.

Grapes: 60% Corvina Veronese, 25% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella. Average vine age: 30+ years.
