Located north of Beaune at the foot of the hillside, Les Mariages is a village-level appellation with classic clay-limestone soils. The name “Les Mariages” (“the marriages”) comes from a local tradition — the people of Beaune would stroll through this vineyard after wedding banquets, where different wedding parties from the neighborhood would often meet and mingle.
The wine is vinified in open vats for 2 to 3 weeks to capture the full richness of the terroir, then aged in oak barrels for 20 to 24 months.
On the nose, it is vibrant and expressive with notes of red cherry, kirsch, and raspberry. The palate is lively and layered, revealing red fruit, spice, and a touch of earth. Structurally firm yet juicy, with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Ideal to drink from its 3rd year, with aging potential of 8+ years.
Food Pairings
Stuffed quail, roast guinea fowl, or pork tenderloin. Also excellent with duck or earthy mushroom dishes.
