Grape: 100% Vernatsch/Schiava. Schiava is a Alto Adige variety that was long underrated to the point of being almost forgotten, just like the old limekiln after which the vineyard is named. Elegant power has enabled Kalkofen to rise phoenix-like from its ashes and cast a stylish spell over the world. VINIFICATION : the small Vernatsch grapes come from the oldest vines in the vineyard, and were selected by hand for this wine. The fermentation began spontaneously in the wooden fermentation vat, with a ten-day maceration period. Following an eight month maturation period in barrique and big wood barrels, the wine was bottled in late-April. TASTING NOTES: this wine is a pure pleasure. The vineyard is composed exclusively old Nebbiolo. A traditional vinificiation of the grapes for 12 days with several pump overs during the day and a controlled temperature of 30/ 35 ° C to optimize extraction. After a rest in stainless steel for 5 months the wine matures in oak for 24 months then is left to age in the bottle until being sold. A ruby red colour with garnet reflexes. 2021 FAR NIENTE ESTATE BOTTLED. VINEYARD NOTES Far Niente Chardonnay is a blend of superlative Napa Valley vineyards located in Coombsville, a cool growing region nestled in the rolling countryside and protected by the hills east of the city of Napa. Coombsville offers the characteristic climate of Carneros, with less wind, along with deeper, well-drained gravelly loam and volcanic ash soils. The combination of these spectacular vineyards results in the subtle, tropical flavors, complex aromas and uncommon richness that have long been associated with Far Niente Chardonnay. HARVEST NOTES The 2021 growing season began with very little rain for the second year in a row, and the dry and warm spring us early budbreak and bloom. The summer months were mild with few heat spikes, allowing the vines to slowly ripen and yield small but intensely flavored grapes. We began Chardonnay harvest at our earliest sites in late August and the continued moderate temperatures into the fall allowed us to slowly and steadily bring the balance of fruit in throughout the month of September, with our last pick just before the month’s end. The intensity of flavor observed in the vineyard continued in the winery and is reflected in the finished wine. TASTING NOTES Bright and lively, the 2021 vintage opens with aromas of lemon zest, kumquat, toasted almonds, hint of wet stone and flint, light fresh cut herbs.  This wine immediately enchants with a silky entry and vibrant flavors of grilled citrus, light green melon and toasted oak that expand across the mid palate all the way until the finish. Characterized by a lively ruby red color, Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia 2018 is a wine of great aromatic complexity, a distinctive feature of this vintage. In the glass, aromas of berries, blackberry, raspberry and red cherry are accompanied by floral hints of wild rose and spicy notes of pink pepper and licorice. On tasting, the wine has a good tannic structure, enveloping and balanced, with a crisp and savory finish.  95James Suckling. The aromas of currants, tobacco, chocolate and mushrooms are very attractive here. It’s full-bodied with juicy tannins and a flavorful, round-textured finish. A characterful red from the Les Chambres lieu dit in Chassagne-Montrachet. Brilliant ruby with purplish highlights. Aromas of Morello cherry, cherry pit, wild strawberry, gooseberry, and raspberry, with subtle animal and spice notes. On the palate it has real substance and fleshy fruit that partly cloaks youthful tannins. With a few years of bottle age it gains concentration and layered complexity. The wine is made from traditional Carmigiano grapes - Sangiovese, Cabernet and Canaiolo grow in the historic ancient Medici property known as "Barco Reale" - meaning Royal Property - which was established in 1626 that was a hunting preserve surrounded by walls over 30 miles long. Barco Reale is a younger version of Carmignano that received DOC status in 1994. It prodiced by the Nobil casa Contini Bonacossi  at Capezzana in Carmignano , Tuscani. Purplish dark and deep red with ruby red shades. On the nose, sweet, ample, elegant, very intense and fruity with light tones of oak. Soft, voluminous, ample with sweet tannins of medium density in good balance with the acidity. Fruity, long lasting finish. Alc: 13.5%
