The Morellino name is a diminutive form of morello, and so translates as "little dark one". This etymology is almost identical to another of Sangiovese's many synonyms, Brunello. A few sources suggest that morello refers to a breed of horse unique to this part of Tuscany. Scansano's viticultural origins date back to Etruscan times, and the quality of the local wines has been documented for centuries.

The grapes are collected on the basis of sensory analysis in the pre-harvest period: maximum maturation of skins and tannins is sought.
This wine ferments at a controlled temperature of 26°C. It remains on its skins for a period of 20 days during which the of color and structure are extracted.
It is refined in small oaken barrels with 500 l capacity where the malolactic fermentation takes place for a period of 14-16 months. At the end of this process, this wine is bottled without filtering to preserve its maximum integrity. It is then refined in the bottle for at least 4 months.

Winemakers note: our Chardonnay grow up in the Langhe hills, in a tuffaceous calcareous soil. Our Bliss Blanc Chardonnay made with cryomaceration method which is the cold processing of grapes that allows the extraction of as many primary aromas as possible from the skins of the grapes. The result is a product with marked floral and fruity scents.
The results is a fresh, delicate, elegant product with its rich hints of flowers and fruits. The perfume is a mix of floral and fruity notes, in particular white and yellow flowers can be perceived, as well as notes of peach, apple and pear. On the palate it is well structured, enveloping and with a great balance between flavor and acidity; the finish is persistent and elegant hints of vanilla can be perceived.
Wine critics notes: Elegant and expressive, this wine has a very delicate complex nose of exotic fruits and vanilla. Aromas of freshly cut lime, dried apple, peach and followed by almonds on the palate. It’s medium-bodied with crisp acidity and a smooth, almost waxy texture. The lengthy finish leaves a lasting impression in its clean and powerful feel.

Aromas of tilled earth, Asian spice and mature black-skinned fruit come together on this hearty red. Mirroring the nose, the robust palate evokes dried cherry marinated in spirits, ground pepper and a dollop of vanilla.
Handpicked in September, the grapes are dried gently in well ventilated rooms for around 3-4 months, concentrating their flavours, sweetness and colour. In winter, the grapes are crushed, fermentation starts with natural yeast and then the must is filled into 500-1000 litre oak barrels to finish. The wine matures in wood for 30-36 months before bottling.
Food-Wine Pairing: Steak, pork based stews, and game are its natural accompaniments

The heat, however, did slow the grapes development therefore we had an average harvest’s epoch which began on September 1 and ended on October 27. We immediately recognize the potential of an absolutely promising vintage when we saw the grapes quality brought to the cellar. The whites wines show enveloping and caressing fruit features
